Welcome to Stomping Ground Ventures

At Stomping Ground Ventures in rural Wilson County, Texas, our heartfelt mission is to empower adults with intellectual and developmental differences (IDD) to not only live and work but truly thrive. Founded in 2020 by Susan Schwartz, we stepped in where hope was scarce—answering the urgent need for community-based support for adults with IDD who too often face isolation. 

Today, our twice-weekly day program is more than a schedule—it’s a lifeline. Through meaningful life skills lessons, joyful creative projects, uplifting community outings, and inspiring micro-enterprise ventures, our participants—whom we affectionately call “Pioneers”—find confidence, independence, and deep connections many thought impossible.

A generous gift of a 25-acre property in Floresville has filled us with renewed hope. Here, we envision a place where laughter fills a multi-use pavilion, learning flourishes in outdoor classrooms and gardens, gentle animals offer comfort, and dreams of residential living become reality. Together, we are building an inclusive rural haven, where adults with IDD can discover opportunity, dignity, and the undeniable warmth of belonging.

The program is currently accepting new Pioneers. Wilson County, Texas, now provides transportation; for assistance, contact Alamo Regional Transit at 866-889-7433 and specify that you are a Pioneer requiring transportation.
